Job description:
- Manage and provide comprehensive medical care for critically ill infants, children, and adolescents admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including but not limited to, blood work, imaging studies, and cardiac monitoring, to rapidly assess patient conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication administration, ventilator management, and nutritional support, to optimize patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists to ensure holistic patient care.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and prognosis, offering empathetic support during stressful times.
- Participate in daily rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and the overall effectiveness of the PICU.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in pediatric critical care through continuing medical education and research activities, contributing to the advancement of the field.
- Maintain meticulous medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
