Surgical Oncologist

• To look after in-patients and out patients who are under the treatment of Medical Oncology.
• To attend to emergency patients under Medical Oncology who present to Emergency during day time.
• To do clinical rounds daily in the in-patient along with consultants of the Medical Oncology team.
• To understand the care needs of patients who are being discharged home and help set-up out-patient treatment plan post discharge.
• To work and interface with multidisciplinary teams and from various other specialties as Surgical Oncology, Paediatric Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Medicine and other specialties.
• To engage in audit and research activities of the department.

• Strong educational foundation in medical science or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and services.
• Experience working with various healthcare professionals and teams.

• Assist patients in managing the symptoms and side effects of cancer and its treatments.

• Clearly explain the cancer diagnosis, stage of the disease, and prognosis to patients and their families.

• Discuss available treatment options and guide patients in making informed decisions.

• Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary healthcare team involved in cancer care.

• Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient’s condition and stage of cancer.

• Prescribe and manage various treatment modalities, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care.

• Monitor patient response to treatment and modify care plans as necessary.
