Job description:

  • Responsible for Non Communicable Disease (NCD) screening with focus on identification of common cancers and precancerous conditions in Karkinos community cancer centers affiliated to multispecialty hospitals.
  • Diagnosis, management and surveillance of common cancers under the guidance of oncologists.
  • Cancer outreach activities to improve awareness and encourage wellness and preventive health.
  • Screening of NCD

a. Take history and conduct general examination of patient for evidence of NCD and/or any common cancers
b. Conduct specific examination to look for common malignancies including oral, breast, cervical, lung and colon
c. Order necessary investigations for the patient
d. Perform diagnostic procedures, interpret reports and treat as per Karkinos protocols

  • Diagnosis, management and surveillance of common cancers under the guidance of oncologists

a. Coordinate treatment plan as per Tumour Board guidelines
b. Counsel the patient regarding course of disease, treatment plan and prognosis
c. Assist in the daycare chemotherapy unit under the guidance of oncologists
d. Manage adverse effects of chemotherapy under the guidance of oncologists

  • Cancer outreach activities and quality improvement

a. Organise community awareness for wellness and preventive health and screening programs for cancer
b. Maintain and continuously improve the quality of care and safety
c. Ensure efficient functioning of the clinic using technology platform
d. Maintain a stress free environment at the clinic.
e. Participate in the health facility accreditation process
f. Engage in continuous medical education and research

  • Be accountable for maintaining accurate patient records as per Karkinos Protocol.
  • Assist the Director and the research team as required.
  • Be accountable for Supervising, Mentoring and Training.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Prescribe and interpret lab tests to obtain more information about underlying pathologies.
  • Prescribe medications or drugs and provide comprehensive instructions for administration.
  • Referring patients appropriately to other specialist doctors if needed.
  • Consulting and collaborating with colleagues to provide optimal care.
  • Documenting all care provided and education/information given to patients within their health records, as per professional and company standards.
  • Develop skills and knowledge within the different specialty areas across the clinic.
  • Encourage health promotion and patient education.
  • Comply with infection prevention control policies and procedures at all times.
  • Be aware of safeguarding policies, both local and national, and implement such policies should it become necessary.
  • Assess clinical conditions, and prioritize health problems, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Provide emergency care to patients as necessary and attend annual resuscitation training.

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of the internship program and 3 years of clinical experience.
  • Experience in emergency medicine is highly desired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, doctors, nurses, and other clinical staff.
  • Appropriate exposure, experience, and competence in all aspects of general practice.
  • Certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support.
  • Fluency in English (speak, read and write).
  • Arabic speaking skills will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent Computer Literacy skills are required
  • DHA License / Eligibility Letter
