Job description:
- Prepare patients for 2D echocardiography procedures, explain the process and address any questions or concerns. Ensure patients are in the appropriate position for imaging
- Perform 2D echocardiograms to visualize and record the structures and functions of the heart, including chambers, valves, blood flow and wall motion.
- Adjust the ultrasound equipment settings to optimize image quality and obtain clear and accurate images of the heart.
- Position the transducer (ultrasound probe) on the patient's chest, ribs, or other designated areas to obtain specific views of the heart.
- Utilize Doppler techniques, such as color Doppler and spectral Doppler, to assess blood flow and detect any abnormalities or restrictions.
- Assist in stress echocardiography tests, which may involve exercise or medication to evaluate heart function under stress conditions.
- Administer contrast agents when necessary to improve imaging of certain heart structures or blood flow.
- Accurately document and store echocardiography images, patient information and any abnormalities observed during testing.
- Maintain and calibrate echocardiography equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Provide instructions to patients on the purpose of the test, what to expect during the procedure and post-procedure care.
- Assist in analyzing echocardiography data and collaborating with cardiologists to interpret the results.
