Job description:

To act as a safe practitioner, demonstrating clinical excellence.

To be responsible for the management of a ward and unit in the absence of a more senior member of staff.

To act as an associate nurse delivering the care prescribed by Doctors.
-
To attend rounds with Consultants, present the patient condition note down and implement instructions.
-
To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient’s care needs as required.
-
To raise various requisitions related to treatments and Nursing procedures.
-
To ensure accurate documentation.
-
To ensure the effective use of organization’s resources in the delivery of patient care.
-
To co-ordinate with ward secretary regarding admissions, discharges of patients and billing activities.
-
To co-ordinate with other departments related to care.
-
To work in accordance with the Organization, National and Local standards
- To be able to communicate effectively with patients, careers, other disciplines and agencies.
- To work in collaboration and co-operative manner with other health professionals.
- To ensure the safety and well being of the patients, staffs, and visitors in the clinical area.
- To maintain confidentially at all times in accordance with the organization.
- To take care of equipment in use for the patient and to be responsible for them.
- To be responsible for preventing and controlling infections for patients and staff of the hospital.
- To teach and guide the juniors.
Key Responsibilities:
CRITICAL CARE UNIT
-
To perform an accurate, systematic assessment of patients who are critically ill, based on clinical and laboratory data.

To use appropriate measures to meet the psychosocial needs of the critical care patients and their families.
-
To be able to use mechanical and electronic life saving equipment required in the case of critically ill patients.
-
To be able to initiate independently life saving procedure when a patients condition warrants.
-
To have good knowledge on preventing and controlling nosocomial infection.
-
To have good knowledge on drug calculation, administration and drug action.
-
To have clear knowledge on therapeutic diet and total parenteral nutrition
-
To corporate and coordinate with other departments.
PAEDIATRIC WARD
-
To handle the children gently during treatment.
-
To have knowledge on feeding formula, immunization schedule and health education.
-
To know the Ready Reckoner of various drugs.
-
To have efficiency in handling IV cannulation, fluid calculation and drug calculation.
-
To ensure awareness on preventing nosocomial infection.
LABOUR WARD
-
To have knowledge on assessing the gestation of pregnancy and FHS.
-
To maintain Birth Register and co-ordinate with MRD.
-
To maintain and keep the delivery set and baby receiving area ready before delivery.
RENAL WARD
-
To know the pre and post renal transplant procedures and also cadaver transplant.
-
To have knowledge on various dialysis and safe handling of equipment and materials.
-
To have knowledge on therapeutic diet and total parentral nutrition.
-
To have knowledge on prevention of nosocomial infection.
-
To have professional skills in treating the chronic renal failure patients.
EMERGENCY
-
To be aware of MLC procedures, ambulance services and various procedures done in Emergency.
-
To have knowledge on triaging the patient.
-
To be ready to manage disaster.
-
To participate in the vaccination programmes and health camps conducted by the hospital.
-
To coordinate with other department for the continuity of patient care.
NEONATAL ICU
-
To receive the newborn babies from labour ward and OT.
-
To assist major procedures like exchange transfusion, lumbar puncture etc.
-
To have knowledge on new born care.
-
To have knowledge in feeding formula and immunization schedule.
-
To have knowledge of incubator, phototherapy unit and life saving equipments.
-
To be efficient in handling and assisting IV cannulation, drug therapy and drug calculation.
-
To identify the problem of the newborn and to communicate efficiently to the concerned doctor.
-
To give adequate care for healthy and sick newborn babies.
GENERAL
-
To be aware of departments performance and objective.
-
To participate and contribute to departmental quality initiatives.
-
To adhere the safety norms of hospital and follow both patient safety and staff safety rules.
-
To perform any job / task as and when assigned by the superior.
